There are a lot of different choices when purchasing a laser printer for your CSS (Dos) program. The printer must have a parallel port, this is a physical connection which connects your printer to your computer. A USB port will not work with the CSS (Dos) program. Even though you can buy a printer that has both parallel and USB connections you can only use the parallel port to connect.
The printer must also have PCL (Printer Command Language) print
drivers. These Printer drivers were established back in the 80's by Hewlett Packard. The PCL5 and PCL6 are the most recent drivers available. If the driver description is not printed on the box you may need to contact the manufacture to confirm if there printers are supplied with PCL drivers.
It's recommended that our back office customers continue to use and/or buy computers installed with Windows XP Pro. If you already have a computer with Windows XP Pro we recommend that you do not upgrade until consulting our support department.
The CSS (Windows) program is completely compatible with the new Windows Vista operating system, but special installation instructions are required of the CSS (Windows) program to limit the user from frustration.
